Are you an educator in Tacoma? Presenting BRINGING TACOMA’S HISTORY TO LIFE, a new Youth Historical Fiction Competition and Resource Guide for teachers and students!

The Resource Guide is geared towards high school students, and provides four prompts about decisive but little-known moments in Tacoma’s history. It includes a discussion guide for teachers around a selection from Dashiell Hammett’s The Maltese Falcon, and is accompanied by a slide deck to introduce the material to students graphically.

The competition will be judged by a panel of local writers and historians, and three winners will win cash prizes and share their award-winning stories at an event as part of Historic Preservation Month in May.  Submissions to the Historical Fiction Competition are due on Friday, March 30th. More details and competition guidelines are available at our website.
