The Washington Coalition for Open Government sponsors a high school essay contest every year with a $1,000 cash prize. This year, the deadline is extended until May 30th due to school closures. The 2020 Scott Johnson High School Essay Contest is open to all 9-12th graders in WA state.

In addition, The Washington Coalition for Open Government is putting together a network of "Virtual Guest Speakers" who can lecture on a number of topics dealing with civics, open government, and transparency.
